The Happy Prince
-
continues to
appeal to young and old alike and offers an opportunity to experience
another facet of Wilde's creative genius.
-
The Happy Prince
- is the story of a statue which, at the beginning of the tale, is far from happy because he sees all the sorrows
in the world around him. With the help of a feisty little swallow he sets
out to right some of the inequities of his kingdom. Wilde's text is both
beautiful and funny and Leslie Arden has enriched it with lively and
poignant music. The principal characters, as well as zippy dancing
sailors, gossipy birds and the townspeople are all brought to life by a
splendid trio of voices and the expert playing of the piano accompanist.

of augmenting the Stratford Festival's A Wilde Celebration. It
was presented among a portion of the Gallery Stratford's exciting Arts
