We
are pleased to have Kristine Anderson join us again this summer while Tania
performs in Charlottetown in Anne of Green Gables and Oklahoma.
Kristine has performed across North America and England as a
soloist in oratorio, opera, and musical theatre. Prior to forming The
Ginger Group with Renée and Lona, Kristine toured North America playing
Madame Giry in Live Entertainment’s production of The Phantom of the
Opera.
Since returning to Toronto, Kristine has also performed in A Little Night
Music at the Canadian Stage and in Brian Macdonald’s acclaimed
production of The Mikado at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Most
recently she appeared as The Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music in
Calgary.
In addition to her more recent roles, Kristine has also performed leading
roles with The Calgary Opera, The Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Operetta
Theatre, Opera Ora, Tapestry Music Theatre, The Guelph Spring Festival and
The Sharon Festival. In the theatre world, Kristine also appeared as a
principal performer with Young People’s Theatre, Alberta Theatre
Projects, Huron Country Playhouse, The Globe Theatre, and was part of the
Macdonald-Mirvish production of H.M.S. Pinafore in Toronto and on tour in
the US.
Kristine has been a vocal coach both at The Randolph Academy (a musical
theatre training school in Toronto), the Royal Conservatory of Music, and
in her own studio. She is also a member of The Rosedale Soloists, a small
ensemble of professional singers who perform in several concerts each year
under the leadership of Wayne Strongman, as part of The Rosedale Concert
Series. This season’s concerts included the Benjamin Britten Ceremony of
Carols and Fauré’s celebrated Requiem.
Kristine originally studied music at the University of Saskatchewan, where
she met and became friends with Lona Davis. Here she won a number of
scholarships and was awarded her Bachelor of Music with Great Distinction.
After graduation, Kristine received a scholarship to study at the Royal
Academy of Music in London, England. While in London, Kristine enjoyed
performing as a guest soloist with oratorio societies throughout England.
After four years, Kristine returned to Canada to attend the University of
Toronto Opera School. Here she met Renée Bouthot, and the rest is
history!
